I have a dream

Many people have dreams. Some realized, most dreams remain just that, dreams! I also have dreams, one of them is to run hour after hour, day after day for a cause I believe in and for an organization I know adds something important to many people in our city.

The Church City Mission is the organization I want to support. The City Mission is an institution for many who struggle with their everyday life in some way. The City Mission has activities and programs for youth and adults, they serve within a year many dinners to people who otherwise would not have a hot meal that day, they cook countless coffee cups, they organize a lot of positive activities, song and soup buffet, and much more. They also have their own priest.

I run every day, resting is overrated ☺ (but also necessary and advisable in between). At the end of May next year I will start a long run, one marathon every day for 19 days for the City Mission. 19 marathons in 19 days. 800 km. This will be done along a road you might have been walking along yourself or you know someone who has been or plan to go there; El Camino (“The Way”) in Spain.

El Camino, the ancient pilgrimage route that runs from St Jean Pied du Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, has a history dating back to the 800s connected to James, one of Jesus’ disciples. Over the centuries, millions of people have walked this road. I am one of them. To walk this road which is about 800 km long, did something to me. The people I met, places and stages along the way became precious in my heart, something lasting and meaningful that has enriched my life. When the walking came to an end a warm September day in 2013, the tears came. The whole thing was over ! The idea to run El Camino came the same day into the night! Could it be possible, and perhaps for a good cause?

In a few months, the dream is realized. The financial target is set at NOK 500 000 (EUR 60 000). At this point we have achieved NOK 150 000. If you want to support the project financially, you will find the account number under “Støtt prosjektet”.

The first running steps are to be taken at May 27th 2015 and the final steps June 14th 2015 in Santiago de Compostela.
